Linea Nigra:
A brownish line appearing on the abdomen - starting at the belly button and continuing down to the pubic hair. This discoloration (linea nigra can be translated as "dark line") is caused by pregnancy hormones causing an increased production of the pigment melanin. The excess pigmentation of the linea nigra may not completely disappear.
